Kyoto Municipal Keihoku Elementary and Junior High School is a school surrounded by mountains and sky, located in the Keihoku area of Ukyo Ward, Kyoto City.

The school building, which makes generous use of local Kitayama cedar, is a place filled with warmth and pride, connecting people with local trees.

It also functions as a disaster prevention base facility, making it a safe and secure structure.

In the center of the school building, six Kitayama cedar dendrites, a symbol of the region, stand quietly in a row. The space, which gives the impression of being in the forest, represents the six districts of the Keihoku region and conveys the strong message that local trees support children's learning.

Behind the beauty of this structure lies the work of assembling and dismantling the scaffolding, in which we were involved.

Now that it's complete, all the shoring and scaffolding has been removed and our work is no longer visible.

Even so, after the shoring was dismantled, every time we looked up at the six pillars towering over the atrium, we felt a quiet sense of pride, thinking, "We were once supporting these pillars."

Architecture where wood supports wood.

And creating a space where invisible work can be seen.

That is our job and our pride.
