In the spring of 2022, a large-scale mural appeared on the exterior wall of Kura Sushi Shinsekai Tsutenkaku store in Shinsekai, Osaka.
The project was produced by WALL SHARE Co., Ltd., which promotes regional revitalization through murals. The artwork was created by mural artist KAC, who expressed a dynamic Japanese worldview by fusing "sushi" and "ukiyo-e."
We were responsible for all scaffolding assembly and dismantling work, creating an environment where the artists could work safely and efficiently.
During the project, we were also hit by some unfortunate weather conditions.
Creating murals is a delicate process and exposure to the elements can have a significant effect on both the work and the artist.
Therefore, we applied "rain protection" (protection with white sheeting) to the top level of the scaffolding, thoroughly protecting the wall and work space from the rain for several days until the mural was completed.
This response protected the quality of the work while also avoiding major delays to the schedule.
The project also produced a theme song, "Shinsekai: Look up and you'll see Tsutenkaku," by local reggae artist SHADY , who is from Nishinari Ward, promoting the charms of Shinsekai from multiple angles through the power of art and music.
Completed close to Tsutenkaku, a local landmark, this mural is garnering attention as a new tourist spot that delivers impact and relaxation to visitors.
